MLB Best Bets: August 19
Adam Ronis brings you his top bets for today's MLB Slate
Cleveland Indians at Pittsburgh Pirates, 7:05 p.m.
Going back to the same spot as yesterday. The Indians needed extra innings, but they covered the 1.5 by winning 6-3 in 10 innings. Aaron Civale is 2-2 with a 3.60 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 26:3 K:BB ratio in 25 innings. Steven Brault will pitch for the Pirates and he hasn't appeared in a game since August 9 and went two innings. He has appeared in four games, making three starts and pitched a total of seven innings. The Pirates are 4-17 and 2-7 at home. They have lost 12 of their last 14 games. Six of their last seven losses have been by multiple runs. With the money line around -192, we will take the run line again.
PICK: Indians -1.5 (-122)
Arizona Diamondbacks at Oakland Athletics, 9:40 p.m. ET
Jesus Luzardo is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing nine hits, six earned runs, two walks and two home runs at San Francisco. At home, he has been excellent, pitching 17 innings, allowing 13 hits, five earned runs and a 17:7 K:BB ratio. Merrill Kelly has been excellent in his four starts, facing the Padres twice, Dodgers and Rangers. He is 2-0 with a 1.32 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and a 22:3 K:BB ratio in 26.1 innings. The A's have scored four runs in the first two games of the series and the Diamondbacks struggle against left-handers. Expect a low score.
PICK: Under 8.5 (-110)
