MLB Best Bets: September 1
Adam Ronis brings you his top bets for today's MLB Slate
Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees, 7:10 p.m. ET
The Yankees offense has struggled without several of their big bats in the lineup due to injuries. They still have gone 2-0-1 on the overs the last three games. The Rays have won six straight games, including a 5-3 win over the Yankees last night to open a 4.5 game lead over the Yankees in the A.L. East. Masahiro Tanaka faced the Rays on Aug. 18 and allowed eight hits, five earned runs and two home runs in four innings in a 6-3 loss. Trevor Richards makes the start for the Rays and has pitched 21 innings and made two starts. He has thrown 86, 76 and 82 pitches over his last three appearances and hasn't pitched more than 4.1 innings in any game. He has a 4.71 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. The Rays are averaging 5.7 runs in their last six games against the Yankees.
PICK: Over 9 runs (-110)
Cleveland Indians at Kansas City Royals, 8:05 p.m. ET
Zach Plesac is back after being disciplined for breaking team protocols. He has a 1.29 ERA and 0.67 WHIP with a 24:2 K:BB ratio in 21 innings over three starts. The Indians have lost two straight, including a 2-1 loss to the Royals last night. The offense should get going against Matt Harvey. He has made two starts and in 5.2 innings, he has allowed nine hits, seven runs, two home runs, four walks and struck out six against the Reds and Cardinals. The Indians are 10-2 over their last 12 road games.
PICK: Indians -1.5 (-122)
