NHL Best Bets: January 16
Andrew Dewhirst pores over the data and analysis to bring you his top bets for today’s NHL slate to help you cash those tickets.
We have a full slate of ten NHL games today, so let’s take a look at our best bets.
Chances are the Thomas Greiss won’t be able to make 40 saves on a regular basis, and if Detroit can’t get more than 13 shots on goal again, then this game could get out of hand. Detroit should play better, but they are overmatched going up against Carolina.
Pick: Hurricanes -1.5 (+110)
The Islanders dominated the Rangers on Thursday, as the Rangers took a lot of penalties. The Rangers have shuffled their lineup so we will see if it returns better results, but I don’t see this being a high scoring game with the style of play the Islanders bring to the table.
Pick: Under 5.5 goals (+105)
The Wild beat the Kings in overtime on Thursday, but the Kings scored three odd goals. One with four seconds left in the period, one goal off of a Minnesota player, and one from behind the net. I don’t see the Kings being that lucky again tonight.
