NFL Best Bets: January 9
Jon Impemba pores over the data, analysis and research to bring you his best bets for tonight's games between the Rams/Seahawks and Bucs/Football Team!
These two teams are quite fond of one another, having played twice already this season with both organizations splitting the series. One notable thing however in those two games has been the total points scored. In the first game the two teams combined for 39 points and in the second game, both teams combined for 29 points. Today's game total is currently at 42.5 and with there still being some uncertainty surrounding Rams QB Jared Goff and his dislocated thumb the Rams may be forced into using a backup here.
Pick: Under 42.5 Points
The spread on this game opened at 7.5 and is all the way up to nine points with the Buccaneers favored. Washington's front seven is among the best in football and it's no secret that in years past Brady has struggled against elite pass rushes that disrupt his timing routes. That said, this offense has been firing of late and they will have Mike Evans available. Washington, on the other hand, is likely without Alex Smith tonight which means Taylor Heinicke will be up against a good Tampa Bay defense. I think Tampa covers and this game hits the under with Washington struggling to move the football.
