It’s only March, but UFC 299 may showcase the fight card of the year. So obviously, I had to take full advantage and create a few UFC 299 best bets.

We of course have the Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera rematch, but the fights leading up to the main event should be spectacular as well. Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit St. Denis highlights the co-main, while plenty of other household names are on the card too.

With that being said, I’ve decided to share my UFC 299 best bets for Saturday!

*All betting odds below are courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook, unless otherwise mentioned.

Dustin Poirier vs. Benoit St. Denis Best Bet: Poirier ML +170

The betting line has completely swung in favor of St. Denis, as Poirier opened as a slight favorite. I don’t expect to see the line shift much more, however. Poirier is obviously nearing the end of his career, but we can’t brush off a guy who’s consistently been Top 5 in the division.

On the other side, St. Denis has just one fight against a borderline top-15 opponent. Not only is Poirier the more technical striker, but he’s got the cardio to go all 5 rounds if need be. I’m not quite sure the same can be said for St. Denis.

Petr Yan vs. Song Yadong Best Bet: Yan ML -125

Yan has showcased how he can strike with the best in the division a couple fights ago against O’Malley. He should have won that fight, but regardless, in this one, Song isn’t a takedown threat.

So, not only will Yan have the striking advantage, but also the wrestling advantage if he so chooses. Yadong wins aren’t bad, but this is still steep competition for him. This fight, to me, should be lined closer to Yan -200 than even money.

Gilbert Burns vs. Jack Della Maddalena Best Bet: Burns ML +140

Yet another fight on this card in which a young, up-and-coming fighter takes on a veteran who’s been a staple at the top of the division for quite some time. Look for Burns to use his wrestling advantage in this one to control the fight.

JDM has struggled with takedown defense in the past, and none of those guys compare to Burns from a wrestling standpoint. If Burns gets on top at any point in a round, I have a hard time seeing him losing that. The only clear advantage here for JDM is from a technical standpoint, which will be nullified by Burns’ wrestling.

Parlay for UFC 299: Despaigne ML (-340) + Holland ML (-136) (+124 Parlay Odds at Bet365)

An Olympic Taekwondo medalist, Despaigne is making his octagon debut here at UFC 299. He’s got a ton of power, pummeling 3 of his previous 4 opponents in less than 15 seconds.

Meanwhile, Holland squares off against Michael Page, who profiles just like Holland, actually. Page, though, is making his UFC debut at the ripe age of 37 years old, so Holland should be able to get the job done.

The odds aren’t massive, but these are two safe bets in my opinion.

Longshot UFC 299 Bet: Curtis Blaydes by Decision +350 vs. Jailton Almeida

Should this fight truly be priced as close as it is? Blaydes comes in with a massive weight advantage over Almeida, so he should be able to land some takedowns and hold Almeida to the ground for long periods of the fight.

While Almeida has indeed dominated his past fights with wrestling, we have yet to see him have to fight on the defensive. So, I’ll take a stab at Blaydes here. Almeida is good enough, in my opinion, to at least make it to the bell though, so we’ll take these juicy odds.
